Bascule Bridge Grille and Wine Bar was founded in December of 2011. We picked the most scenic place on the street and built our brand around its natural beauty. Our restaurant is located on Bridge Street in the heart of the historic Ashtabula Harbor, down near the Ashtabula River and in close poximity to the Strauss Bascule Bridge. Built in 1925, the Strauss lift-bridge is one of the only single-leaf bascule bridges that remains operational in the state of Ohio. We think that’s pretty impressive, so we took this perfect window into the past and transformed it into a playground for the senses.
Our focus is on seasonal food, local produce, innovative recipes, and the drinks that pair best with them. Our managing partners/chefs, along with our sous-chef, have amassed experience in food styles from around the world, including: Italian, French, Asian, Caribbean, and Mediterranean. They are especially proud of their scratch-cooking and “slow food” preparation abilities. Our mission is to create an upscale-casual atmosphere, offer top-quality tempered with value, remain centered on ethics as a community-centered business, and be ever-conscious of environmental and economic sustainability.
